I chose Humira - because it is an injection (pen) that you can do yourself at home every 2 weeks. One of the others I could choose from (I can't remember which one it was now) meant coming into the day unit for infusions. I was told the decision was up to my preference on how it was administered - as before you try one you have no idea how it will work anyway!! I only had the choice of 2, because the others might make my neurological condition worse. Doing it yourself is very flexible as you can alter the days a bit to suit you.

It is certainly working much better than any of the DMARDS did. And I've reduced my steriods down from 15 mg/day to 7 mg - so far - and still reducing! (slowly). I haven't had any of the side effects listed (on the very long list!).

There are others here on Enbrel - so I am sure they can tell you how it is administered.

I chose Enbrel which you administer with an epi pen weekly, I thought I would remember it if I had to do it every week. I am delighted with the results and have had no side effects from it. The pen injection is very easy to use.
I too was given the choice and I agree it is tricky to decide.

I chose Infliximab as I was quite happy to attend the hospital once every eight weeks for infusion treatment. In hindsight it was the best decision as our rheumatology department is very understaffed and it is almost impossible to contact anybody if you need their help urgently. So now I am in very close contact with the nurse and consultant, he even came down to see my in the clinic the last time when I was far from good, which was brilliant

I didn't really have a choice of drugs. I went on a trial for humira and then was allowed to go back onto it when the trial finished. ( I had to stop it for 10 weeks to complete the trial).
I think I would have chosen humira, purely for the fact that it's only one injection in 2 weeks (although I now have mine every 12 days), and also because you do it yourself at home.

I chose Enbrel which was successful really quickly, but I had an increasingly bad reaction to it so have now had 3 doses of Cimzia. Still waiting for benefits to show but on the plus side, the syringe allows you to inject slowly so it stings less.

Hi just reading reply's and I have just had my 1st injection of embrel and I was not given a choice and glad i didnt really as it is really baffling!!!
I am only 36 and feel 96 so hoping this anti tnf drug works so i can finally feel human again. Hope all goes well for you, and the choice is the right one for you.

Good luck Bettyboo. I am not on these yet only DMARDS but trying to learn about them.

I personally would go for a less frequent injection like "Humira" rather than a weekly one.

I mean why inject too regularly!!

I can't see how anyone could forget one every two weeks as opposed to one week....these are supposed to be a"life-saver" so how can you forget..!

Also is one suppose to have lesser side-effects than another?

I hear that a new one called "Simponi" has been approved and is monthly jab! But not available just yet I imagine.
